OSAT U.S. History/Oklahoma History/Government/Economics (017) Practice Test

Liberalism is fundamentally centered on the idea of progress and the belief in adapting government policies to address social, economic, and political issues. This philosophy emphasizes the importance of personal freedoms, individual rights, and the capacity of government to enact reforms that enhance social welfare and ensure justice. By advocating for change when necessary, liberalism seeks to improve the conditions of society and protect the rights of individuals in response to evolving challenges.

In contrast, concepts such as strict government control, traditional values, or an overarching focus on community over individual rights do not align with the core tenets of liberalism, which prioritizes individual freedoms and the role of government as a tool for promoting social change rather than merely enforcing existing norms or values.
